We opened in November of 2006 with a limited classic line of cashmere apparel and accessories. About Scottish Cashmere
Designers from fashion centers around the world have always viewed Scottish Cashmere as the very finest grade of yarn.
Why? The first reason is the quality of the raw fiber. All cashmere is made from the undercoat of Mongolian cashmere goats, but not all raw cashmere is the same.
Scottish mills have established stringent standards for color, length, thickness and purity of fibers. Yes, Scottish Cashmere does cost a little more. The mills accept only the longest and silkiest raw fibers, which are then dyed before being turned into yarn. The result is long-lasting, luxuriously soft clothing in a richly saturated array of colors. The long fibers, which constitute just a fraction of the raw material on the market, resist pilling and insure years of beauty. Garments made from shorter, less expensive fibers tend to pill with wear and lose their shape with washing. And yes, cashmere is hand washable.
Scottish cashmere comes in an eclectic mix including classics, wraps, intricate intarsia—beautiful images woven right into the garment with no unsightly threads on the inside, and totally contemporary designs with in rich, multi-dimensional weaves, or perhaps adorned with elegant beading and embroidery. Sample them all at CashmereRed.
